Deborah Barrett

Barrett is a self-taught artist currently based in New York. Born in Michigan, Barrett began making toys at a young age. Those early stuffed toy figures continue to influence her art, which includes figural drawings with distinctive, almost satirical characteristics. Barrett pursued her Bachelor of Arts in creative writing at Wayne State University, after which she traveled across the United States to San Francisco, New York and the Bay Area, creating works in a wide variety of media.
